Ronald Araujo responds to Bayern Munich transfer rumors: “I’m focused on Barcelona, I’m happy here”

Ronald Araujo has been the subject of much speculation surrounding his Barcelona future, with Bayern Munich heavily linked with a big money move for the Uruguayan defender. The latest gossip suggests the Germans are willing to pay as much as 100 million euros for Ronald, but Barça consider the defender untouchable and are not ready to sell even in the middle of a serious financial crisis.

Araujo was asked about the Bayern links before Thursday’s Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Osasuna in Saudi Arabia, and Ronald was pretty clear in his message: he’s used to the rumors by now, and he doesn’t want to go anywhere.

“There are rumours about me in every transfer window. I’m focusing on Barcelona, that’s all. I’m happy here and I’m always giving my 100 per cent when I wear the shirt, I think I have proven it over the last few years.

“Again, these are the rumours that are coming up in transfer windows. Last summer, there were rumours about me going to Manchester United… so this is not a new situation. Despite all the talk around the club, as I said, I’m focused here.”

Frenkie de Jong was in a similar spot to Araujo 18 months ago and had to endure a ton of speculation about a move to Manchester United, but the Dutchman never wavered on his desire to be a Blaugrana and is now a crucial piece of the team.

Araujo seems to have the exact same attitude, and unless the player himself has a big change of heart there is no need to worry about Barça’s best and most important defender leaving the club.

As long as Barça don’t get desperate and decide to sell him.
