Barcelona 2-0 Osasuna: Player Ratings | Spanish Super Cup semi-finals

Following Real Madrid’s 5-3 win yesterday against Atletico Madrid yesterday, Barcelona were burdened with the task of not only qualifying for the final of the Spanish Super Cup, but also with putting up a show against Osasuna.

They started the game fairly well, creating an odd chance here and there, but could not break Osasuna’s back-five for an hour, after which Robert Lewandowski found a way through.

Joao Felix found the way through for Barcelona late in injury time to put an end to the single-goal streak. The Catalans will now face Real Madrid in the final.

Inaki Pena: 8

Made a terrific 1v1 save as Araujo was caught out by Ante Budimir, and a few more decent stops thereon. Distributed the ball fairly well, too.

Jules Kounde: 8

A solid display from Kounde, who shuffled up and down the right flank brilliantly, creating a couple of chances. Almost got an assist, as well.

Was great defensively as well, making a last-man tackle and a couple of crucial interceptions.

Ronald Araujo: 5.5

Uncharacteristically sloppy once again, Araujo is undergoing his worst spell since moving to the senior team. Was beaten to the ball way too many times, and got brutally nutmegged by Budimir inside the box, leading to a 1v1. Much better second half, though.

Andreas Christensen: 7

Had to cover for Araujo one too many times, but did well enough to maintain the clean sheet. Broke lines with ease as everyone is used to from him.

Alejandro Balde: 6

Could not create much against a stacked five-man defence from Osasuna, but defended rather well.

Sergi Roberto: 7

Roberto created a superb chance for Lewandowski in the first-half that was missed, and then fumbled a decent shot of his own. A dynamic display from the captain, though, justifying his spot.

Ilkay Gundogan: 8.5 | Man of the Match

A bit here and there while defending, but faultless as ever in possession, creating a couple of decent chances for his teammates, including one that was converted by Lewandowski. Was the difference once again tonight.

Frenkie de Jong: 7

Everyone on the team was looking for de Jong to break the Osasuna mid-block, and he did so well, creating a couple of chances. Had some trouble finding the free man in the box at times, but another top performance nonetheless.

Raphinha: 6

Was having a fairly decent game when he got substituted off due to injury.

Robert Lewandowski: 7

Lewandowski failed to convert a simple chance in the first half, but made up for it with a superb finish in the second. That said, his overall display was still concerning, moving to the sidelines unnecessarily and failing to make the simplest of passes.

Ferran Torres: 6

A subpar performance from Torres, who will need to do much better if he wants to continuously start over Felix.

SUBSTITUTES:

Lamine Yamal: 8

Made things happen on the right flank alongside Kounde, attempting crosses and difficult dribbles to find space. Got a well-deserved goal, too, late in added time courtesy of a superb move from Joao Felix.

Pedri: 8.5

Not quite the reinforcement defensively but Pedri’s smooth ball control and line-breaking ability helped Barcelona find a way through the press on a few occasions. Made a sensational solo run in injury time that had the crowd on their feet.

Joao Felix: 7

A few flashy tricks and flicks that eventually worked for him as he combined with Pedri well to create a brilliant chance for Lamine Yamal, who finished comfortably.
