Barcelona table renewal offer until 2029 to key defender amid €100 million proposal

The future of Ronald Araujo has been in the headlines for the past few weeks, with Bayern Munich eager to sign the Barcelona key defender in the summer.

The 25-year-old, though, has reiterated time and again that he is happy at Barça, while the Catalans themselves are uninterested in a sale.

Despite that, Bayern Munich continue to be relentless in their pursuit of the Uruguayan international, who is seen as one of their priority targets for the summer.

Bayern Munich ready to offer €100 million

Now, as per MARCA, Bayern Munich are prepared to make a huge effort to try and lure Araujo away from Barcelona.

In fact, as per the report, the Bundesliga champions have informed Barça that they would be willing to offer a mammoth €100 million offer for the former Boston River starlet.

It is not a formal offer tabled by Bayern Munich but an unofficial proposal sent to Barcelona through intermediaries so that the Catalans can consider the possibility of offloading the Uruguayan international.

Barcelona already have a contract offer ready

But, despite the €100 million proposal on the table, Barcelona have no plans of offloading Araujo in the summer.

In fact, the reigning La Liga champions are eager to renew his contract and have already put forth a proposal for him, as per MARCA.

Indeed, Barcelona already presented Araujo with a renewal offer in a meeting that Deco had with the defender’s representatives a few weeks ago.

During that meeting, the Catalans made it clear that they are betting on the footballer with a long extension of his contract that could last until 2029.

However, Barcelona are yet to receive a response from Araujo on the proposal. Despite that, there is a strong belief that the two parties will eventually reach an agreement over a contract renewal.
